    Oatman is a village in the Black Mountains of Mohave County, Arizona, located at an elevation of 2, feet ( m). It began as a small mining camp when two prospectors struck a $10 million gold find in , though the vicinity had already been settled for a number of years. Oatman's population grew to more than 3, in the course of a : Mohave. Gila County in east-central Arizona is a source for a small amount of gold from Dripping Spring, Barbarossa, Globe-Miami, and the Payson placers. Gold is associated with copper and silver lodes and veins, and in porphyry copper deposits in the Globe-Miami district; with copper, lead, and silver in the Barnes district of the Dripping Spring Mountains and in ore in the Payson : The Gem Hunter.
